The findings of this study suggest that social media users should be educated about the importance of critical thinking and media literacy to help them distinguish reliable information from misinformation. Amtrak spokeswoman Amy Louviere said a passenger train hit a car parked on the tracks about 6:30 a.m. Thursday near Riverside Avenue and Dunn Avenue in downtown Jacksonville. The driver of the car died at the scene, while another person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Louviere said she could not confirm if it was a motorcycle. The cause of the crash was not immediately known. She said police were investigating.A New York City man who was accused of raping a woman he met on Tinder has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexual assault and other charges.
The New York Daily News reports that 27-year-old Michael Gargiulo pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the attack on a woman he met through Tinder in 2013. He also pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted first-degree murder for allegedly trying to kill two other women who escaped his clutches. He faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced next month.
