Therefore, an understanding of how soil temperature and moisture influence crop growth is crucial. In this study, we developed a mathematical model to estimate plant biomass production and growth rates from field-measured soil temperature and moisture data. Our model uses data collected from experiments that used various soil moisture levels and soil temperatures in various field locations. We also conducted sensitivity analysis of the model to test how each of these factors individually affected plant biomass production and growth rates. The results indicate that soil moisture had a greater impact on plant biomass production and growth rates than soil temperature. Furthermore, we identified two types of plants with distinct response patterns to soil moisture. One type had more robust biomass production when soil moisture was higher while the other type was more sensitive to changes in soil moisture and had lower biomass production. Our model can be used to estimate plant biomass production and growth rates from field-measured soil temperature and moisture data. This information can be used by farmers and agronomists to better understand how soil temperature and moisture affect crop growth and to make more informed decisions about harvesting operations. Additionally, our model can be used by environmentalists to evaluate the environmental impacts of harvesting operations on plant biomass production and soil fertility.
